Overview
Background

The company is a legacy writer which provides risk-transfer and run-off solutions for other Lloyd’s syndicates and capital providers.

It is responsible for managing the run-off of the Syndicate, following cessation of live market underwriting on 31 December 2018.

 

Opportunity
  • To drive the capital modelling process, includes reporting to key internal committees.
  • Over time, to take on reserving duties with potential support of pricing for a good candidate.
  • Meeting Lloyd’s and other regulatory requirements and developing and delivering the Model Development Plan.
  • Build knowledge of business through both data analysis and interaction with claim, reinsurance, and finance teams.
  • Deliver high-quality and timely Solvency II and regulatory reporting.
  • Positively contribute to the effectiveness and development of the Actuarial Function.
  • Cross-sharing of knowledge and skills within the actuarial team and wider business.

We offer hybrid working, with the successful applicant expected to attend the London office approximately 40% of the time, or more should business requirements dictate.

 

Key Responsibilities

Primary/Initial

  • Lead and manage the company capital modelling process for internal and regulatory requirements.
  • Deliver high-quality and timely Solvency II and regulatory reporting.
  • Lead the preparation and documentation of the company’s SCR, contribute to Standard Formula SCR and other modelling as required.
  • Lead the development, parameterisation, assist with validation and documentation of the Internal Model.
  • Responsible for the enhancement of the capital modelling process, which will include reporting and presenting to the Risk and Capital Committee.
  • Embed the use of the Internal Model in accordance with the Use Test requirements.

Secondary

  • Support the Reserving team to undertake various reserving analyses and the subsequent production of exhibits and reports.
  • Assist with due diligence analysis of target deals portfolios.
  • Liaise with all internal stakeholders including Board members, providing relevant training as required.
  • Contribute to any ad hoc projects as necessary.
  • Maintain an appropriate level of Continued Professional Development as required by the company and relevant Professional Organisations.

 

Skills & experience profile

Suitable candidates will have:

  • Excellent knowledge of actuarial capital modelling platforms and techniques. Experience using Remetrica would be desirable but not essential.
  • Detailed working knowledge of Lloyd’s Regulatory Reporting requirements.
  • Strong technical skills, proven analytical problem-solving experience and delivery of results orientated solutions.
  • Good practical knowledge of actuarial reserving approaches and requirements.
  • Knowledge of ResQ, or other reserving packages, and R or Python advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills across a range of audiences.
  • Solid project management experience.
  • Keen interest in development of self and others.
  • Awareness of wider industry knowledge and desire to learn more.
