Working Arrangements: M-F 9.30 to 5.30

What you will need:

As Finance Assistant you are part of a team responsible for the finance processing and control of ten insurance entities. This includes internal relationship building and liaison with other departments within the business (for example underwriting, claims departments and EU offices).

Main Responsibilities:
  • Reconciliation of bank accounts
  • Process month end journals
  • Reconciliation of control accounts and inter-company accounts
  • Cash management to ensure funding available for large payments
  • Preparing and submitting VAT and IPT returns
  • Assisting with the annual audit, including liaising with external auditors.
  • Liaising with internal departments including credit control, payments & claims
  • Manual double entry input using SUN5 and Q&A 11 (Data send)
  • Assisting in the preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Contributing towards the improvement of processes (upgrade of Q&A 11) and controls
Person Specification:
  • Thorough attention to detail
  • An ability to work autonomously and in a team
  • An ability to identify and implement process improvements
  • Desire to add value to the business
  • Strong communicator with finance and non-finance professionals
  • Strong IT skills (particularly Excel)
  • Knowledge of SUN5 and Q&A 11 is desirable
  • Experience working in an insurance accounting environment would be an advantage
