Salary Level: £70k-£80k basic

Main Purpose of Job

Responsible for:

  • timely production of management information.
  • management accounts.
  • maintaining annual forecasts.
  • managing the outsourced service provider; and

engaging with senior management to ensure the financial requirements to run the business are met, and relevant statutory rules and regulations are always complied with.

Key Tasks

Take ownership of monthly financial MI distributed to stakeholders and to investigate, report and explain any material variances.

Review and approval of monthly journals created by the outsourced service provider.
Assist with production of forecasts and budgets.

Take a pro-active approach to balance sheet management including credit control and cashflow forecasting.

Take ownership of settlement bordereaux process, ensuring bordereaux are accurate, complete, and timely.

Produce detailed analytical review on month-end results and present figures to key stakeholders.

Manage and lead the external audit process.

Assist with development of management reports.
Attend key meetings where finance representation is required.
Manage the annual tax compliance process.

Other ad hoc tasks as required

  1. Help devise and drive financial discipline across the business
  • Control the measurement of performance of all activities.
  • Produce Finance pack for review monthly
  • Work with all areas of the Business on all cost control measures
  1. Systemise process and standards across the business
  • Maintain all necessary systems, policies, and procedures to ensure effective and efficient financial management within the company.
  • Ensure sales and margin reporting is timely, accurate and value adding.
  • Ensure procedures manual for accounting functions are kept up to date and that the Company maintains appropriate internal control safeguards.
  • Produce all necessary statements and reports to enable the accurate measurement of cash flow, profit and loss, debtors and creditors.
  1. To Deliver cost control to the business
  • Monitor costs to ensure that these comply with the company’s cost criteria and to maximise savings to the company
  • Manage KPI’s to match the budget, improve and introduce more appropriate ones
  • Treasury management in the business and produce cash flow forecasts
  1. To Ensure continued compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Assist in the management of the legal affairs function, and all tax compliance matters
  • Ensure continued compliance with relevant accounting standards
  • Run the annual functions including year end
Key ValuesPerson specification / Core Competencies:


  1. Strong MGA/Lloyd’s experience (5-10 years in the Lloyd’s market)
  2. A track record of success in finance and managerial experience
  3. Ability to participate in and facilitate meetings;
  4. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes
  5. Willingness to work a flexible schedule and simultaneously manage several projects


  1. Accounting Qualification (ICAEW)
  2. Intelligent, quick-thinking, alert, highly numerate.

  4. Experience of working with large data tables
  5. High level of communication skills both verbal and written; Excellent personal and business presentation skills.
