Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this role is responsible for overseeing all Lloyd’s, statutory, and group reporting, and HMRC tax filings, for the Lloyd’s syndicate, managing agency, corporate member, service company, and other related companies. This role manages both the syndicate and group reporting teams, and assists the CFO where necessary with all finance matters relating to the Lloyd’s business.


Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee preparation of all Lloyd’s finance returns including QSR, QAD, QMA, ASR, AAD, QF1, AF1 and others as they arise.
  • Oversee preparation of quarterly group reporting pack and related UK group consolidation and deal with related queries from group reporting team as they arise.
  • Oversee preparation of all relevant tax returns including corporation tax, VAT and Lloyd’s syndicate tax returns for UK, US, and Canadian tax.
  • Oversee preparation of UK statutory accounts for all companies in the Lloyd’s group and the UK holding company for the Europe group.
  • Act as the primary contact for the external auditor.
  • Assist the CFO with managing the Funds at Lloyd’s and related communication with Lloyd’s.
  • Oversee the monthly and quarterly financial close processes, and timetable, and ensure all material balance sheet accounts are reconciled on a regular basis.
  • Assist the CFO with the production of papers for boards and committees as required.
  • Manage the syndicate and group reporting teams and help the development of all team members.
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with the other finance managers and other organisation teams that interact with finance, including actuarial, reinsurance, claims, and underwriting management.
  • Assist the CFO with identifying potential areas for improvement within finance systems and processes and formulating and implementing suitable solutions.
  • Any other reasonable duties that fall under the remit of the role being performed.


Skills and Experience Profile


  • Experience of all major Lloyd’s syndicate and managing agency returns
  • Experience of group consolidation
  • Experience of subsidiary reporting to group holding company
  • Working knowledge of corporation tax and VAT filing requirements
  • Intermediate level Excel skills
  • Excellent people management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Fully qualified accountant


  • Experience of US GAAP reporting
  • Experience of SUN general ledger and/or EPM consolidation tool
  • Experience of Tandem data warehouse
