Job Responsibilities

The primary role of the Insurance Product specialist is to contribute to the ongoing success of the company BPA technology platform with an initial focus on P&C and Retail. You will take ownership of the product’s business functions and requirements to deliver the next generation of policy administration platform for the insurance industry with an initial focus on the MGA market but with a longer-term product goal of supporting insurers of all sizes, globally.


You will:
  • Take overall responsibility for the product business functionality.
  • Work with the product manager to define and deliver the product roadmap, business plan, go-to-market strategy, and development plan.
  • Work with and lead other business analysts to:
  • Create user stories for product development.
  • Produce detailed documents on features and requirements for delivery by the development team. • Oversee the development and delivery of the product from the functional standpoint.
  • Provide input to technical leads to translate requirements into technical designs.
  • Be a business subject matter expert for the appropriate insurance processes in client proposals, presentations, and demos.
  • Assist in creating RFP responses.
  • Act as the insurance subject matter expert on the product.
  • Plan and implement new features and changes to the product.
  • Gather and evaluate ideas and features from within the company and wider market.
  • Run user group sessions with clients to gather feedback for improvements and enhancements.
  • Assist with market research to understand how best to prioritise and position features of the product.
  • Support business development activities with clients.
  • Learn and understand how clients use the products and how to improve their experience.
  • Attend and represent the company at conferences and present demonstrations of the product.
  • Inspire colleagues and users of the product.
  • Provide thought leadership for the industry.
  • Work with a global team to deliver the product and the associated services.
  • Expected to travel as required by business demands, some international.
  • Work with the implementation team when deploying the platform to new clients
  • Work with service delivery team to ensure a smooth transition of product features into production.
  • Manage customer account and demonstrate good customer relationship and stakeholder engagement.
  • Demonstrate good understanding of the technology infrastructure that underpins the core product • Understand product functionality and its business case for the client.
  • Map out business process of the customer operations and extract necessary information from the client • Manage project delivery and product rollout strategy with the customer.
  • Demonstrate good appreciation of the entire insurance lifecycle and the business challenges faced in the customer operations.
  • Ensure the solution is delivered that meets the client’s requirements and expectations.
  • Demonstrate good technical knowledge to marry business functionality and the technical architecture.
  • Demonstrate product implementation and delivery lifecycle – quality assurance, environment management, release management etc.
  • Provide expertise and present demonstrations to prospective customers and colleagues from other parts of the business.
  • Track and manage work against a delivery timeline, from producing estimates through to recording and monitoring time spent.
  • Work closely with the Technical experts and team to plan sprints, releases and coordinate across dependent products and teams.
  • Prioritise and set the team direction, creating a sense of urgency and momentum.
  • Demonstrate intermediate product releases and updates to customers to showcase progress within the lifecycle of the project sprints.


Essential Skills
  • 5+ years’ experience in insurance industry.
  • UML methods and BPMN process and data modelling in particular to convey structured designs to both clients and technical delivery colleagues.
  • Allocating and supervising (including reviewing deliverables) of other analysts.
  • Detailed understanding of the insurance policy lifecycle in P&C and retail.
  • Deep understanding of claims and accounting processes.
  • Experience in building products that drove client acquisition.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and be comfortable communicating with colleagues at all levels and influence decision makers both internally and with our clients.
  • Knowledge of ISO and ACORD forms (Desirable).
  • A background in technology and best practices.
  • An understanding of the global insurance market and the challenges it faces today in the future.
  • Be a confident presenter both internally and externally.
  • Working as part of an agile development team.
  • Working with customers to gather requirements and demonstrate products.
  • Knowledge and practical experience of agile product delivery method.
