The Role

Syndicate Finance workstream owner for Strategic Partner Syndicate (‘SPS’) proposals. Responsible for establishing and implementing Syndicate Finance SPS processes and controls.

Reporting to: Head of Syndicate Finance

Responsibilities
  • Syndicate Finance workstream owner for each Strategic Partner Syndicate (‘SPS’) proposal
  • Attend project meetings with SPS partner and Making it Happen meetings with Lloyd’s
  • Design Syndicate Finance target operating model to include systems; data flows; and personnel
  • Confirm finance IT system requirements and appraise potential system vendors
  • For chosen finance system vendor lead agreement of scope; schedule of work; delivery plan; fee; and UAT
  • Design SPS ledger configuration and oversee set-up and testing
  • Oversight of changes to the treasury for SPS
  • Agree Syndicate Finance Service Level Agreement with SPS partners
  • Lead Syndicate Finance work over ‘take-on’ balances associated with SPS set-up or transactions
  • Document and agree SPS accounting policies
  • Identify changes required to Syndicate Finance policies; Investment minimum standards; and Investment Strategy
  • Undertake SPS Finance processes and handover to business as usual
  • Continual development of controls and processes over the integrity of the SPS general ledger balances. Establish and maintain process documentation
  • Assist other team members on other Company syndicates at peak times when workload allows

Essential / Desirable Skills & Attributes
Essential
  • Knowledge and experience of Non-Life Insurance accounting
  • Experience of Finance process and control design
  • Proven problem-solving skills and ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel
  • Deadline focused with good project and time management skills
  • Conscientious, with a positive work ethic and an enquiring mind
  • Good written and oral communication
  • Qualified, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent
Desirable
  • Experience of using Sun general ledger and Q&A
  • General ledger applications and database querying tool skills
  • Knowledge of underwriting systems
  • Lloyd’s and syndicate reporting experience
  • PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word
