Main Purpose of Job

Responsible for:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Syndicate Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations and strategic development of our syndicate at Lloyd’s. This is a crucial role within the organisation and the ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the Lloyd’s insurance industry, strong leadership skills, and a proven track record of managing successful syndicates.
 

Key Tasks

1. Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to ensure the growth and profitability of the syndicate.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the Lloyd’s market.

2. Underwriting Oversight:

  • Review and approve underwriting decisions to ensure compliance with company guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • SBF & Quarterly reserving.
  • Monitor underwriting performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Risk/ORSA/FLA.
  • DUA metrics/bordereaux management Other Lloyd’s returns.
  • Coordination of internal and external audits.
  • Aggregate exposures.

3. Risk Management:

  • Assess and manage the risks associated with the syndicate’s portfolio.
  • Collaborate with the risk management team to implement effective risk mitigation strategies.

4. Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Liaise heavily with Asta and all the functions within the organisation.
  • Represent the syndicate at industry events and maintain a positive industry presence.

5. Financial Management:

  • Oversee the financial performance of the syndicate, including budgeting and forecasting.
  • Ensure adherence to financial targets and reporting requirements.

6. Compliance and Regulatory Affairs:

  • Stay abreast of changes in regulatory requirements and ensure the syndicate’s compliance.
  • Work closely with legal and compliance teams to address regulatory issues.

 

Key Technical Skills/Knowledge/Professional Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field. Advanced degrees or industry certifications are a plus.
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on strategic thinking and problem-solving.
  • In-depth knowledge of underwriting, risk management, and insurance industry trends.
  • Extensive experience in the Lloyd’s insurance market within a Syndicate Manager role, with a proven track record of managing successful syndicates.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
  • General computer literacy- Excel, Word etc.
